ZYSO was founded in 2003 (as a 501c3 nonprofit organization)

- To encourage and offer young musicians of advanced accomplishment and exceptional talent opportunity for study, performance, and creation of music on a professional level.

- To foster appreciation and study of standard orchestral repertoire.

- To provide community service by way of benefit concerts, music education concerts in public and private schools and other arts oriented events.

Note from our directors

"As directors, we have a passion for music that we love sharing with youth.  Playing an instrument is wonderful, but the sense of belonging that comes from being in an orchestra goes much deeper.  Beyond developing instrumental skills, we see many students develop a stronger sense of self  and we often see self confidence blossom."

Directors: Kirsten and Ed Candland, Kiley Kolodziej, Kamille Brooks, and April Nielsen

Touring Organization

"ZYSO loves to perform at festivals and concerts throughout the season. We also look forward to educational tours each season. Previous tours include: Boston, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Zion National Park."
